Partial & Full Dentures

Dentures in Calgary

It can be terribly frustrating trying to live your life without being able to talk properly or even eat your favorite foods. Sadly, many people who have suffered the loss of many of their teeth are dealing with this situation. There is an answer though, and one that can give you back your smile, your speech, and the ability to eat your favorite foods again. The answer is partial or full dentures.

Partial & Full Dentures

At Renew Dental, we offer partials and full dentures near you to our patients who want to be able to live their lives and eat the things they enjoy again.

What’s the Difference Between Partial and Full Dentures?

Partial and full dentures are two different types of dental prosthetics that serve a similar purpose: restoring lost teeth. Partial dentures near you will fill in some of the gaps left by missing teeth, whereas full dentures are built to replace all of the teeth on one or both sides.

Partial dentures can be attached to the top or bottom and are usually hooked to existing teeth. Full dentures are usually made to cover the entire side or both sides of the mouth.

How Are Dentures Near You Made?

Dentures are made of a resin or acrylic material that is shaped and molded to fit the mouth. They can be customized by adding metal clasps to hold them securely in place.

The denture plates are formed from a mold of the patient’s mouth and then custom-fitted to the patient to ensure a good fit. Modern advancement allows dentures to be much more comfortable, and some don’t even require adhesive. Dr. Keith Lawson at Renew Dental can walk you through the entire process, which usually only takes a couple of visits to get a mold made and pick up your new dentures!

How Do I Know Which Dentures to Get?

Partial dentures are ideal for people with only some teeth missing on one side of their mouth, including those who want an aesthetic improvement without having to sacrifice their chewing ability. The partial denture will fill gaps where natural teeth have been lost, but it may not cover all areas of your mouth like full dentures would do.

A dentist will typically recommend complete replacement (full) dentures, which can be a more permanent solution if you have no remaining natural teeth at all.
